Now more than ever, it’s of critical importance to be a source of truth and educate the public about life-saving vaccinations. Meningococcal vaccines can help to prevent a serious and potentially life-threatening infection.

Becky Werner Meningitis Foundation (BWMF) (https://stampoutmeningitis.com/) was formed by Bob and Dee Dee Werner, who lost their daughter, Becky, to meningitis in 2004, to raise awareness about meningitis and the power of prevention through vaccination.

Over the past two decades, the foundation has:

● Supported 100+ educational sessions at high schools and universities across the country
● Donated $200,000 to the Medical College of Wisconsin for meningitis research
● Raised $52,000 to help support meningitis victims and their families

“Becky loved volleyball and, as with any team sport, working together is critical. Our community honors her memory by coming together to raise meningitis awareness,” stated Bob Werner, co-founder Becky Werner Meningitis Foundation. “We honor her memory by working with others in the health field to support research, help families, and help get kids vaccinated so they are protected against meningitis.”

Most recently, the foundation partnered with Vaccine Ambassadors (https://vaccineambassadors.org/ ) to provide 5,000 meningitis vaccines, helping to ensure life-saving protection for teenagers and young adults in Trinidad and Tobago.Vaccine Ambassadors funds contribute to the procurement and international logistics of priority vaccines identified in the Pan American Region through a joint initiative with Pan American Health Organization, Facilitating Equitable Access to Vaccines in the Americas.

“Our partnership with the Becky Werner Meningitis Foundation is about more than just vaccines. It’s an investment in children’s futures, giving children the protection they need to grow up healthy and free from the threat of devastating diseases like meningitis,” said Dr. Saintedym Willis, Board Member, Vaccine Ambassadors.

On Monday, June 23rd, 2025, Ironwood Golf Course in Sussex, WI, will host the 20th annual Shots4Meningitis Golf Outing (https://shots4meningitis.com/ ) starting at 10:30 a.m. The outing was started as a way to raise funds for the Becky Werner Meningitis Foundation, so the foundation could fund research and support the needs of survivors and their families.

Please join the Becky Werner Meningitis Foundation in raising awareness and educating the public on meningitis prevention.
